When you open the doors the windows always slide down and when you close them it goes up. But if you're removing the battery and still need to access the car, the windows wont roll down and opening them is still possible, but closing the door isn't. So before disconnecting the battery, open your doors, disconnect the sucker and then the windows will always be slightly rolled down enough for the door to close well and not leave any space for insects or spiders coming inside.

Top tip! I've never even thought about it before.

Can't say I knew that about modern vehicles with frameless glass. I can say I once had the unfortunate experience of being showered with glass when my window was up a little too high on my 81 Camaro and the door glass smacked the T-top. I was cleaning glass out of that car for a month.

This feature is called Short Drop Glass in the 2006 Mustang Owners Manual. I would add that if the windows lose calibration (this has happened a few times when I disconnected the battery) they will need to be re-calibrated. Basically: get in car, close doors, roll up window all the way and hold switch in up position for 2 seconds. If calibration for down is lost roll windows all the way down and hold switch 2 seconds, then immediately do up calibration. Never attempt calibration with doors open! This is one of those times it is worth checking your owners manual for specifics.

That feature is useless in my S197. They should have stayed with the fixed window like the SN95.

That feature helps to keep water out of the car.

It's in decent shape, we restored it, then it sat for a few years unrestoring itself a little..so now it looks really good from 20+feet away, then u get close, and see it has some issues, but is still decent, lol

well most cars of this age will have their flaws if you see them up close.

My 350Z doesn't do the auto descending and rolling up on the drivers door any more and it still opens and shuts fine
Either needs a new regulator, or for me to take the door panel apart and reset it
![]() 01/22/2015 at 00:56 |

If it did before yes, but if your car doesn't do that when it was new, then theres no problem, some cars have different rubber seal designs.

It's supposed to, and the passenger door still does, not that I ever carry passengers. I guess my groceries appreciate it
